2. In your Settings, you need to go to System (Display, notifications, apps, power).
3. In the display settings menu, you need to click on Detect. You have to make Windows think that the 2nd display is already attached when it very clearly isn’t yet. It should say Display not detected but will also have a blue screen that you need to click on.
4. You need to find the Multiple Displays area and click on the drop down box. You need to choose Try to connect anyway on VGA.

This will prepare you to use the extra display and extend your desktop surface using your Chrome browser and Chromecast.
1. You need to start by opening Chrome on your PC.
2. You need to click the small arrow in the same area as the Chromecast icon which is in the top right corner of your Chrome browser window. Then, you need to scroll to the Cast screen/window (experimental) option and select it.
3. Choose display number 2 as the Cast screen/window, which is the one you set up just a few moments ago.

How to Extend Your Desktop Using Chrome
The easiest way to do this on a Mac or a PC would have to be using Google Chrome’s built in Chromecast service.
